Have I mentioned how much I absolutely love going to local yard sales? I find the awesomest … wait is that a word … stuff, like this vintage botanical rose print. It was $0.25 and in need of a frame. I figured I probably had one at home that would work, but no luck. Sad Face.
A few months later I found a brown wood frame just the right size at another yard sale for a $1.00. I was so excited!
I wanted to bring out the green in the print so I applied several coats of varying shades of of green paint to give it that aged look. Then I distressed it a bit by sanding over some of the paint and added a light antiquing glaze until I was satisfied with the color. I loved it. My poor photography skills really do not do it justice.
Digging through my scrap wood pile, I found an old painted and distressed board. I had a Paris stencil and some more green paint so I added a little splotches of green paint and stenciled Paris on it … not too bad. After all, FREE is always good.
Pumpkin, my cat, loves to nap on it, but I’m thinking about giving it a makeover since I am no longer feeling the antiqued look and the antique white blends into the wall too much. Maybe I should paint it a pretty pastel. Any suggestions?
